Solon police handled two OVI arrests, a stolen car recovery, a parking lot theft and a domestic violence call between Sept. 29 and Oct. 3. Here is a look at the reports, sorted by category and then date. Charges are allegations, and everyone charged is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. Domestic Violence Oct. 3, 8:46 a.m., Aurora Road Officers went to a home on Aurora Road after a woman called for help during a family argument. She reported that her son had become physical with her. Officers arrived and detained the suspect while they checked on the woman. She told police her son had been verbally abusive. She said he pushed her and struck her with his knee. A man, 34, of Solon was arrested and taken to Solon Jail. He was charged with domestic violence, a first degree misdemeanor. No injuries were reported to the victim, a woman, 63, of Solon. Operating Under the Influence Sept. 29, 2:36 a.m., Aurora Road An officer pulled behind a black sedan that had stopped on Aurora Road east of Richmond Road. The car had its hazard lights on. The officer turned on his spotlight, and the car pulled away. The car traveled east on Aurora Road at about 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. It also weaved in its lane. Near Cochran Road, it crossed left of the center line. The officer stopped the car near Camp Industrial Parkway. The driver had the odor of an alcoholic beverage about her. She performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Police arrested her and took her to Solon Jail. Officers found an open container of a suspected alcoholic drink in her purse. A breath test registered a blood alcohol concentration of .166%. Her license was placed under suspension. A woman, 21, of Bedford Heights was charged with OVI, prohibited BAC, speeding, marked lanes and open container. The first two are first degree misdemeanors. The other three are minor misdemeanors. The car was towed. Oct. 1, 11:18 p.m., SOM Center Road An officer stopped a black Hyundai Elantra traveling south on SOM Center Road near Park East Drive. The car was going about 47 mph in a 35 mph zone. The driver told the officer he had "a little bit" to drink. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Police arrested him and took him to Solon Jail. A breath test registered .042% BAC, which is under the .08 legal limit. The driver also told an officer he had smoked marijuana that day. Police collected a urine sample for analysis. A man, 25, of Northfield was charged with OVI, a first degree misdemeanor, and speeding, a minor misdemeanor. Further charges are pending lab results. The vehicle was towed. Recovered Stolen Vehicle Sept. 30, 7:38 a.m., Miles Road near Naiman Parkway Officers received an alert from the automated license plate reader system. It showed a possible stolen car had driven past a location in the northwest corner of Solon. An officer found the blue Honda Civic parked at Pioneer Electronics on Naiman Parkway. Nobody was inside. Officers confirmed the car had been reported stolen in Cleveland. Police spoke by phone with the owner, a man, 65, of Wickliffe. He thought his daughter might have the car because she worked at Pioneer. Officers then spoke with the daughter, a woman, 31, at the scene. The father did not wish to press charges. The car was towed for safekeeping. Police removed it from the database as a stolen vehicle. Theft Oct. 2, 1:40 a.m., King Nut, Solon Road Officers responded to the King Nut parking lot for a theft report. Three employees working the night shift said a window on each of their cars had been broken. The thefts break down as follows: Mazda SUV: personal ID cards, a credit card and $10 in cash were taken. Ford SUV: the vehicle was rummaged through, but nothing was missing. Volkswagen SUV: $110 in cash was taken. The employees arrived for work at midnight. They noticed the losses about 1.5 hours later.
