Solon Police Blotter: Aggravated Menacing, Domestic Violence, and Extortion Investigated by Solon Police
SOLON, Ohio – The Solon Police Department handled a variety of serious offenses during the week of June 7, 2026, including an armed standoff that drew regional tactical readiness, multiple domestic violence situations, a tracking device discovery, and an extortion scheme. Officers successfully de-escalated a chaotic neighborhood disturbance involving a brandished rifle, resulting in charges for multiple individuals. Tactical Units Alerted After Rifle Brandished on Linden Drive On Sunday, June 7, 2026, at approximately 6:18 p.m., Solon police officers were dispatched to a home on Linden Drive following reports of a severe disturbance. Dispatch operators advised responding units that four adult women had arrived at the property in separate vehicles, creating a volatile scene by yelling and screaming in the driveway to demand that a resident's adult son come outside. The incident reportedly originated from a prior dispute in Cleveland. One woman, accompanied by acquaintances, traveled to the Solon address to demand payment from the male resident after he allegedly damaged her vehicle. While the parties argued in the driveway, the male resident emerged from the house carrying a black rifle equipped with a red front grip. Cell phone footage retrieved by officers showed the suspect with the rifle slung across his chest. Witnesses reported that he pointed the weapon at two of the women and threatened to kill them. The confrontation escalated further when the suspect's mother exited the home and engaged in a physical altercation, throwing a chair, a charcoal chimney starter, and a charcoal pick at the women in the driveway. No injuries were reported from the thrown items. When police arrived, the suspects retreated inside the residence and initially refused to cooperate, falsely claiming via phone that they were no longer at the property. Due to the presence of high-powered firearms and non-compliance, Southeast Emergency Alliance (SEAL) SWAT commanders were requested to activate. However, after a police supervisor warned the male suspect that a barricaded-subject protocol and search warrants were being initiated, both he and his mother exited the front door and surrendered to officers at 7:02 p.m.. Following a drone sweep and physical entry by tactical officers, police cleared the residence and searched the second-floor master bedroom. Inside a closet, officers located and seized a Springfield Armory Saint .223 rifle found in a hazardous state: a round was loaded into the chamber, a loaded magazine was inserted, and the safety selector switch was set to "fire". A Maverick Arms 12-gauge shotgun containing six shells was also confiscated for safekeeping. The suspect's iPhone was seized as evidence after he denied consent for officers to view Ring camera footage. As a result of the incident, the male suspect was transported to the Solon Jail and charged with Aggravated Menacing (a first-degree misdemeanor) and Obstructing Official Business (a second-degree misdemeanor). His mother was issued a misdemeanor citation for Obstructing Official Business and was assigned a mandatory appearance in Bedford Municipal Court. Following her citation, she experienced a medical emergency and was transported by Solon EMS, who secured the home. The two women who initiated the disturbance in the driveway were also cited for misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct. Mother and Daughter Arrested in Liberty Hills Domestic Dispute According to the Solon Police Blotter, officers responded to an apartment in the 32000 block of Hamilton Court on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 8:10 p.m. after receiving a 911 hang-up call. Responding officers initially found no one in distress and cleared the location. A subsequent emergency call provided specific details regarding an active domestic disturbance at the apartment, prompting officers to return. Upon arrival, a 53-year-old Solon woman reported that she had been struck by her 52-year-old husband during a domestic argument. Furthermore, the victim stated that her 18-year-old daughter had subsequently struck her on the arm as punishment for contacting 911 for emergency assistance. Both the husband and the daughter were arrested on scene by responding officers, transported to the Solon Jail, and charged with Domestic Violence, categorized as a first-degree misdemeanor. Detectives Investigate GPS Tracker and Extortion Attempts The Solon Police Department launched multiple investigations into specialized criminal complaints during the early weeks of June: Suspicious Activity: On June 8, 2026, at 4:29 p.m., a 45-year-old Solon resident arrived at police headquarters to report finding an unauthorized GPS tracking device attached to her motor vehicle. The device was logged into evidence, and the Solon Detective Bureau has assumed the investigation to identify the origin of the tracker.
