SOLON, Ohio – The Solon Police Department handled a wide range of incidents during the week of June 23, 2026, including a stolen vehicle investigation, multiple domestic disputes, and an animal cruelty citation. This Solon police blotter report details the leading offenses and traffic stops compiled by local law enforcement officers. Stolen vehicle tracked via automated license plate readers On June 25, 2026, at 11:54 a.m., a 77-year-old male resident at Vitalia on Kruse Drive reported his vehicle missing. The vehicle was last seen in the parking lot on June 19, 2026. Investigating officers utilized the Flock automated license plate reader system to determine that the stolen vehicle had been observed traveling in Painesville on June 23 and June 24. The automobile was officially entered into a law enforcement database as a stolen vehicle. At the time of the report, there were no known suspects. Domestic violence and protection order violations lead to arrests Local police responded to multiple domestic issues, including a protection order violation on June 26, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. on Parkland Boulevard. A 52-year-old woman reported that an ex-boyfriend from Kent called her phone and made insulting remarks while she was at an uninvolved Solon business, defying a court order. A first-degree misdemeanor warrant was subsequently issued for the 57-year-old suspect. Later that evening, at 11:22 p.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment complex on Aurora Road regarding a dispute. A 34-year-old female resident reported that her cohabitating ex-boyfriend, with whom she shares a child, struck her in the head. Though the 38-year-old male suspect offered a conflicting account to authorities, he was arrested and charged with first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence before being booked into the Solon Jail. Animal cruelty citation issued at Solon Community Park On June 28, 2026, at 2:09 p.m., officers responded to Solon Community Park on SOM Center Road following complaints about dogs left inside a parked vehicle. Officers located a silver Subaru SUV that was turned off and occupied by two dogs inside crates. Although the rear hatch was left open and the animals had access to water, ambient temperatures hovered around 85 degrees, and the dogs exhibited rapid breathing and heavy panting due to minimal airflow. After public address announcements failed to locate the driver, officers removed the dogs for safekeeping at the police kennel. The owner, a Mentor resident who was attending a baseball game in the park, was contacted by dispatchers and subsequently cited for second-degree misdemeanor cruelty to animals. Additional traffic stops, OVI charges, and weapons violations The Solon police blotter also included several significant traffic enforcement actions: Warrant Arrest: An officer stopped a blue Chevy truck on Aurora Road near Geauga Street on June 23 at 9:45 p.m. because it was operating with only one functional brake light. After detecting the odor of burnt marijuana, the officer cited the 32-year-old female driver from Cleveland Heights for driving under suspension and a brake light violation. The 31-year-old male passenger from Cleveland was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Cleveland Heights Police Department, and the vehicle was towed. Menacing and Hit-Skip: On June 23 at 2:38 p.m., a 17-year-old girl reported that her Audi had been intentionally sideswiped in a hit-skip incident on Aurora Road by an 18-year-old male suspect following an argument. On June 27, the suspect arrived at the police station to question officers visiting his home and was arrested for menacing, first-degree misdemeanor hit-skip, and a marked lanes violation. Improper Firearm Handling: A red Jeep SUV was stopped on Bainbridge Road on June 27 at 11:07 p.m. for driving without visible tail lights. While the driver showed no signs of alcohol impairment, he ultimately admitted to having a gun inside a bag. A 26-year-old female passenger from North Royalton was ordered to empty an open container of alcohol without charges. The 26-year-old male driver from Bedford was cited for second-degree misdemeanor improper handling of a firearm, and the weapon was confiscated. OVI with Child Endangerment: On June 29 at 12:17 a.m., an officer stopped a white Kia SUV traveling 85 mph in a 60 mph zone on US 422 near Harper Road. The 32-year-old female driver from Solon admitted to drinking, failed field sobriety tests, and registered a .107% blood alcohol content. Officers found her 4-year-old child unbuckled in a backseat car seat. The driver was jailed and charged with OVI, prohibited BAC, child endangerment, driving under suspension, speeding, and child restraint violations. The vehicle and child were released to a sober passenger and family member, respectively.
