Solon police handled a range of calls from Sept. 21 to Sept. 26. The reports below are a nonexhaustive list of cases of interest. Charges are allegations, and everyone charged is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. Assault Sept. 24, 10:07 a.m., Marc's on SOM Center Road Officers responded to Marc's after a report of an assault. Both parties were still at the store when police arrived. Officers learned of a disagreement between a Marc's employee and a delivery driver in the receiving area. The driver said the employee struck him in the back of the head. He described the act as unprovoked. The employee told officers he "swung on him" because the driver would not move out of the way. Police arrested the employee, a 42 year old Solon man. He was taken to Solon Jail and charged with assault, a first degree misdemeanor. The victim is a 33 year old Northfield man. He was treated at the scene for a reported bump on the head and released. Domestic Violence Sept. 21, 10:40 p.m., Valley Forge Drive Officers went to a Solon home after dispatch received a 911 hang up call. On scene, they spoke with a female resident and her husband, a 44 year old Solon man. The couple reported a verbal argument. During the argument, the wife reportedly slapped her husband on the face or head. Police arrested the wife, a 42 year old Solon woman. She was taken to Solon Jail and charged with domestic violence, a first degree misdemeanor. No injuries were reported. Sept. 25, 7:14 p.m., Andre Lane Officers responded for a welfare check on a 14 year old girl who was reportedly beaten by her father. They spoke with the girl at the home. She said her father slapped her face and hit her several times on the back with a belt. Officers noted she had injuries consistent with her account. Her father, a 44 year old Solon man, was no longer at the home. Officers contacted him, and he turned himself in at the Solon Police Department shortly after. He was charged with domestic violence, a first degree misdemeanor. He was held in Solon Jail until the court set his bond. Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence Sept. 22, 8:02 p.m., State Route 91 at Bainbridge Road Officers went to the area of SOM Center Road near Bainbridge Road for a reported crash. They found a vehicle that had left the side of the road and struck a curb. It then traveled over a raised median, and the airbags deployed. As the officer arrived, he saw the driver throw a plastic cup and a bag at a wall. The driver appeared intoxicated and smelled of alcohol. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Police arrested the driver, a 33 year old Warrensville Heights man, and took him to Solon Jail. He refused a breath test, and his license was suspended. The vehicle was towed. He was charged with OVI, a first degree misdemeanor. He also faces a failure to control charge, a minor misdemeanor, and an endangering children charge, a second degree misdemeanor. The endangering charge stems from the crash happening while a child was in the car. A 26 year old female passenger from Madison, Ohio, was in the vehicle. So was the driver's 10 year old daughter from Warrensville Heights. No injuries were reported. Sept. 25, 1:19 a.m., Harper Road An officer on patrol noticed a gray GMC SUV parked against a curb near the driveway apron of a business plaza. The vehicle was running and still in reverse. A person sat behind the wheel, apparently asleep. Officers woke the driver and told her to put the vehicle in park. She turned on the windshield wipers instead. The officer described her as lethargic and confused. She smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. She performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Police arrested the driver, a 36 year old Euclid woman, and took her to Solon Jail. She refused a breath test, and her license was suspended. She was charged with OVI, a first degree misdemeanor. The car was towed. Theft Sept. 23, 3:44 p.m., Duneden Avenue A 62 year old Glenwillow man reported a stolen vehicle. He said his 16 year old son drove the family's 2019 Hyundai Sonata to Duneden Avenue that morning. The teen routinely parks the car there before school at Solon High School. He noticed the car was gone after school. Father and son then went to the police station to file a report. They still had both sets of keys. Police saw evidence the car may have been towed. The victims said there was no reason for anyone to tow it. Officers entered the vehicle as stolen in a police database. The case remains under investigation. Underage Party Sept. 26, 11:35 p.m., Michael Drive Officers responded twice to a home for noise complaints. On the second visit, they saw juveniles outside and evidence they had been drinking alcohol. Officers contacted the homeowners. A large number of juveniles were inside for a party. All of them were released to their parents. The homeowners are a 44 year old Solon woman and a 46 year old Solon man. Both were cited and released for allowing und
