Solon Police Report Felony Charge, Scams and OVI Arrests

Solon Police released their weekly report of notable incidents from July 28 through August 2. The list includes a felony charge tied to two separate calls, a pair of scams targeting local victims, two theft cases at the same grocery store and multiple OVI arrests. Felony Charges Filed Detectives investigated a case in which a Solon woman reported that a person recorded an explicit video of her without her consent in 2025. That same person later shared the video with someone else without her consent in July. Two days after the report was filed, the suspect was stopped by police during an unrelated traffic incident. A Salem man, 19, was charged with one count of Dissemination of Image of Another Person, a fifth degree felony. The victim plans to seek a protection order. Officers also responded to Liberty Hills Apartments after management reported finding a trespasser inside a vacant unit during a maintenance check. Staff told the person to leave and called police. Officers located the man walking nearby in a residential neighborhood and learned he had already been warned once in June for trespassing at the same property. A Solon man, 23, was charged with Burglary, a fifth degree felony. He left his cell phone charger behind and asked officers if he could retrieve it before being taken to jail. Scams Target Residents and Businesses An employee at a hotel on Bainbridge Road, 63, reported receiving text messages from someone claiming to be his boss. The sender asked him to purchase nine Xbox gift cards valued at $250 each and send photos of the redemption codes. He complied, then grew suspicious when asked for more cards. A call to his actual boss confirmed the request was fraudulent. The employee lost $2,250 and is attempting to recover the funds. Detectives are investigating. A Chagrin Falls man, 77, told officers that a white SUV pulled up next to him near Route 422 and SOM Center Road. The occupants claimed to offer mobile Tesla repair and pointed out damage to his car. After pulling into a nearby parking lot, one man applied a liquid to the vehicle and quoted a repair price of $2,250. When the victim hesitated, he was warned the liquid would damage the metal if left untreated. He agreed and sent payment through a mobile payment app. He later became suspicious of the exchange and reported it to police. The investigation is ongoing. OVI Arrests and Traffic Stops Officers responded to a crash on SOM Center Road after a vehicle left the roadway and struck a mailbox and a fire hydrant. The driver, a Bedford woman, 65, was unsteady on her feet and smelled of alcohol. A witness reported seeing her pour out a cup of liquid and move a bottle to the back seat before police arrived. She was cited for OVI and Failure to Control and consented to a urine test. Additional charges may follow lab results. A Solon Schools employee reported a vehicle driving recklessly in the Solon High School parking lot. Officers found the car disabled after striking a tree stump and discovered a THC vape pen inside. The driver was identified as the same man later charged in the dissemination case above. He was cited for Reckless Operation and Drug Paraphernalia before being questioned by detectives and formally charged. Later that night, an officer stopped a vehicle traveling without headlights and changing lanes without signaling near Pettibone Road. The driver, a Twinsburg woman, 44, showed signs of impairment and told officers she was coming from a pool party. She performed poorly on field sobriety tests and refused a breath test. She was arrested and charged with OVI, No Headlights and Turn Signals. Her license was suspended. Theft Cases at Giant Eagle A loss prevention employee at the Aurora Road Giant Eagle reported watching a woman bag groceries and walk out without paying. When confronted in the parking lot, the suspect drove away, leaving some items behind. Staff provided a license plate number to officers, who identified the suspect. A Cleveland woman, 69, turned herself in the following morning and was charged with Theft. Store staff estimated the actual loss at around $250. The same store reported a separate theft from its liquor department after two men were seen concealing bottles in their clothing and leaving without paying, then returning a short time later to do it again. In total, the pair took twelve bottles valued at roughly $700. Staff recognized both suspects from previous incidents. Theft warrants were issued for two South Euclid men, 31 and 35. Warrant Arrest Officers assisting a driver with a disabled pickup truck discovered he had an outstanding warrant. A Chagrin Falls man, 51, was arrested and turned over to Geauga County Sheriff's deputies on an Aggravated Menacing warrant. The truck was towed from the scene.
