Incident date: Saturday, Aug. 22, 7:05 p.m. Two Cleveland men have been indicted by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury following an armed robbery in Solon that ended in a police chase and a crash on Interstate 480. Michael Anthony Corrado, 19, of Cleveland, is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, a first degree felony, two counts of robbery, a second degree felony, and one count of receiving stolen property, a fourth degree felony. Martelle Carlito Reed, 18, also of Cleveland, faces the same charges. Reed is additionally charged with failure to comply with a signal or order of a police officer, a third degree felony, because he was driving the stolen car when he failed to stop for officers. The Robbery and Chase Solon police were called to Hamilton Court on Aug. 22 after a report of an armed robbery. A Solon man, 37, had been trying to sell his 2015 Chevy Impala through Facebook Marketplace. A Cleveland man, 39, was helping him with the sale. The two suspects met the men at Liberty Hills Apartments and took the car for a test drive. After discussing the vehicle title, one of the suspects pointed a gun at the 39 year old man, took the title and the car, and left without paying. Neither man was hurt. Officers soon spotted the stolen Impala heading north on SOM Center Road and tried to stop it near Solon Road. The driver sped off instead, reaching speeds over 115 mph westbound on U.S. 422. Officers pursued with lights and sirens as the chase left Solon and continued west on I480. The Impala eventually crashed into the rear of two uninvolved vehicles also traveling west on I480. A Brookpark woman, 40, riding in one of those vehicles was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The crash happened near the Northfield Road overpass and was investigated by Bedford Heights police. Charges Filed After Hospital Stay Reed, the driver, was treated at an area hospital and released before being booked into Solon Jail. Corrado, the passenger, was seriously hurt when firefighters extracted him from the wreck and was hospitalized at Hillcrest Hospital. Because Corrado remained hospitalized, Solon police initially described him only as an uncharged suspect. He has since been released from the hospital and was indicted by the grand jury along with Reed. Police say no booking photo is available for Corrado since his charges came through direct indictment rather than a jail booking. The Gun Investigators confirmed the loaded semi automatic pistol recovered from the Impala had been reported stolen out of Cleveland earlier this year.
